Product overview

The Underarm (Axillary) Crutch is a traditional crutch with a padded underarm support and handgrip, used to take weight off an injured or operated leg. It is intended for patients with fractures, sprains or post-operative weight-bearing restrictions, in emergency departments, orthopaedic clinics, hospitals and at home.

The underarm pad rests just below the armpit and the user bears weight through the handgrip, not the pad, swinging the crutch forward with each step. Correct height setting is essential to avoid pressure on the nerves of the armpit, so fitting should be carried out by a nurse or physiotherapist, who will also teach a safe gait and stair technique.

Highlights

  • Padded underarm support and handgrip
  • Supports non-weight-bearing and partial weight-bearing gait
  • Lightweight tubular construction for easy handling
  • Non-slip rubber ferrule at the tip
  • Suitable for hospital, clinic and home use
